Course Objectives

Elementary Environmental Education courses provide inquiry and life-wide learning activities for students. From the "learning in the environment", students will be equipped with inquiry learning skills and knowledge on nature and universe.

 

Through a series of visits and teacher explanation, the students will have a preliminary understanding of the nature environment.

1. The Exploration of the Sun:

Use the telescopes and the solar filter to observe the sunspot and the prominence.

 

 

2. Explore the Universe through the giant Telescope:

Learn and find how to use the big and the computerize telescope.

 

3. The Micro-World:

Use the microscope to observe the insects and plants.

4. Echo through the wall:

Understand the sound reflection through the games.

5. Plant Handkerchief:

Use the leaves and petals to make beautiful pattern on the handkerchief.

 

6. Little Herbs Bag:

Use herbs to make a little bag for disseminating good and fresh smell.

 

7. Nature Painting:

Use the natural materials to make the beautiful pictures.

 

Course duration and format

  1. 3 out of 6 from above can be selected for each courses.
  2. Duration: 2 hours
  3. Participants: 30-40 for each course.
  4. Remarks: Maximum 7 teachers or helpers for each course.

Through diversified inquiry learning activity, students will have in-depth learning on the study theme.

Theme 1: Little Astronomer

  1. The Exploration of the Sun: Use the telescopes and the solar filter to observe the sunspot and the prominence.

  2. Explore the Universe through the Giant Telescope: Learn and find how to use the big computerized telescope.

  3. Adventure of the Space: Use the Digital Planetarium to take a virtual space tour and explore the knowledge of the stars and planets.

Theme 2: Ecoscope

  1. The Eco Tour: Identify the insects and the other animals through the pictures and games.

  2. The Discovery of Ecological Garden: find and observe the wildlife in the ecological garden.

  3. Explore the Micro World: Use the microscope to observe the insects and plants with the projector.

 

Theme 3: Creative Planting

  1. Factors of Planting: Identify the factors during planting.

  2. Where is the Insect: Go to the small farm and identify the pest and other creatures and learn how to clear them out.

  3. Seedling: Make a clean & clear flowerpot and take it back to home.

* Every student have to bring their own plastic bottle for the planting activities. *


Theme 4: Eco Agent

To observe, investigate, approve and share the finding in the ecological garden.

Students and teachers will investigate the nature through different methods and equipment.


 

Theme 5: The Amazing Rocky Tour

  1. The Secret of the Rocks: Identify the types of the rocks by touching the rocks, movies and games.

  2. The Rocks and Me: Find out Human things that are made by rocks in the school.

  3. The Artwork of Rock: Use the component of rocks to create the beautiful artworks.


To support the "Project Approach" learning, we can work with the teachers to design their own activities to practice in our Centre.
